Last spring, fashion-ites everywhere were hyped on stripes. Often described as nautical. Or breton. Just as long as they were thin. And preferably in primary colors. Especially if you like to pretend that you “summer” off the coast of Brittany. Or when stateside, you’re more of the Martha Vineyard variety. Wait, what the hell were we talking about again?
In a nutshell, stripes were the sh*t.
Stripes were once again seen on the Spring 2011 runway, but in a less serious, less très chic French way. They were wider and brighter and definitely more playful. Think Rainbow Bright but more subdued (ok, a lot more subdued). Or more fittingly–this is a fashion blogazine after all–think Sonia Rykiel at the height of her popularity.
Check out the fun new stripes you’ll be sporting this spring. From traditional tops to watches to heck, even your underwear, spring stripes are in vogue.
Polka dots wish they could have half as much fun.
