Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton Designs Kate’s Dress. Love or Hate?

World, meet the Duchess of Cambridge (as officially named by the Queen), Catherine “Kate” Middleton! The biggest secret since who shot JR has finally been revealed: Who designed her wedding dress? The answer: Alexander McQueen’s Creative Director, Sarah Burton. (Sidenote – isn’t it amazing that a secret of this magnitude was kept so hush-hush?!)

Said Ms. Burton: “It has been the experience of a lifetime to work with Catherine Middleton to create her wedding dress, and I have enjoyed every moment of it. It was such an incredible honour to be asked, and I am so proud of what we and the Alexander McQueen team have created. I am delighted that the dress represents the best of British craftsmanship. Alexander McQueen’s designs are all about bringing contrasts together to create startling and beautiful clothes and I hope that by marrying traditional fabrics and lacework, with a modern structure and design we have created a beautiful dress for Catherine on her wedding day.”

We love that Middleton chose Alexander McQueen, a creative and edgy fashion house, to create a sophisticated, classic dress–a great blend of tradition and modernity (like Kate herself). How unstuffy and cool of this modern-day Princess! Unlike the over-the-top gown Diana wore, Middleton’s dress possessed a subtle elegance that we adored. The veil and the intricate lace on the dress was also breathtaking! Plus, the A-line silhouette really showed off Kate’s teeny-tiny waist!

We give her a ROYAL PASS!

But let us know what you think!

BTW- How great were those Philip Treacy hats? So over-the-top, we wish Americans would start wearing them! Check out Victoria Beckham’s hat and SKY-HIGH heels! Not bad for someone who is preggers!
